Pathways Academy of Technology & Design Selected to Attend 14th Annual NAF Benefit

NAF Benefit

Students Will Present Projects to Representatives from America's Top Companies

At The InterContinental New York Barclay In New York City

(April 7th, 2017 – (Hartford, CT) – Pathways Academy of Technology & Design from Connecticut has been selected as one of 9 academies to attend NAF's 14th annual benefit. This year's benefit will honor Ajay Banga, President and CEO of Mastercard, who will sit down for an informal discussion with NAF Founder, Sandy Weill, as part of the evening.

Each year, donors and professionals who support career academies attend this event for a memorable evening of recognition and networking. In the past, these evenings have raised as much as $1.7 million to support and sustain NAF's mission nationally, and contributions will aid in providing programming, training, and materials for NAF teachers, directors, and students throughout the country.

These high school students will be presenting to representatives from America's top companies, such as JPMorgan Chase & Co., World Wide Technology, and SAP North America, about how they have used their NAF academy experience to prepare for college and careers. They will demonstrate their knowledge as it relates to a project connected to their chosen theme or will reflect on how project-based learning experiences and internships have paved the way for their future aspirations.

Pathways Academy of Technology & Design sophomores, Aracelis Figueroa & Angelica Ortiz will be presenting their Pathways ePortfolio, which is a display of their student work, talent, and growth from throughout their years at Pathways. They will share their current ePortfolio and describe the learning process behind its creation. Seniors, Jovan Mercado & Stephen Pawlak, present their joint collaboration on developing the app, Iris. This app is a Lenovo Scholar App creation, and the purpose of the app is to connect communities for student success. Through this app, college students will have the ability to connect to study groups and clubs and find other social activities to help them connect to their college community.

This year's 14th Annual Benefit will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at The InterContinental New York Barclay in New York City.
