Activities and Clubs

Pathways to Technology Magnet High School offers many activities and clubs that enrich student education.


Information Technology Leadership Academy (ITLA)

The ITLA is a program where students are contributing members of a project team that applies communication and problem solving skills to address a comprehensive challenge meant to dramatically improve our health, our democracy and our quality of life.

Writer's Block

Members of Writer's Block work to bring opportunities for creative expression to the students of Pathways. Students on this committee share a passion for all things artistic, from publishing "A Page from My Book," a bi-annual literary magazine to arranging for special guest speakers. Cartoonists, poets, playwrights, illustrators, designers, copy editors, photographers and others with similar interests make up this active committee.

Yearbook Club

The Yearbook Club's mission is to plan ad create a Yearbook that represents the Pathways to Technology student body, the staff, and the many activities that are a part of our exciting school year.

Community Service Club

The Community Service Club is dedicated to bettering our community and making the entire school community more socially aware of the needs of individuals and the community at large. Students dedicate their time, energy, and resources to helping those I need. Some of the activities include serving dinner at the South Park Inn Homeless Shelter, answering phones at the CPTV/NPR Pledge Drives, putting together meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning for the Salvation Army.

Bowling

Pathways Bowling League is committed to bringing parents, students and teacher together for a fun filled recreational activity. This is a great opportunity for the development of teamwork, sportsmanship and positive socialization in a relaxed atmosphere.

Architecture, Construction, Engineering (ACE)

ACE students meet every other week with mentor architects, contractors, and engineers. They work in teams to design projects and build models of various facilities. This past year students developed a three dimensional model, a computer model, and blueprints for the renovation of the old Sage Allen building in Hartford.

Mouse Squad

Mouse Squad is a student-driven technical support help desk program that addresses the technology needs of our school. Students in this club work after school to repair computers and load software.

Peer Mediation

Peer Mediation is a group students who come together to promote peaceful and nonviolent resolutions to conflicts that may arise. Students meet twice a month for training and strategy sessions on how to maintain a peaceful school environment.

Robotics Team

The FIRST Robotics competition is an exciting, multi-national competition that teams professionals and students together to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. The program is a life changing, career molding experience. Each year over one thousand teams from every state and several countries compete. The Pathways to Technology Robotics team won second place last year.

Entrepreneurship Club

The Entrepreneurship Seminar Club is an interactive, experience-based, after school program designed for juniors and seniors. Special focus is placed on key practices that must be mastered to be a successful entrepreneur, such as leadership, freedom, power, and playing by the rules.

The Connecticut Pre-Engineering Program (C-PEP)

C-PEP is an after-school program in which students use math, science and engineering skills to design and build models of real-life technology applications for competition. Students compete at the state level in the Spring and also attend college and career awareness events.

Pathways to Innovation

This program develops student innovation and research skills through seminars and mentoring activities. Students attend seminars and workshops delivered by participating college faculty and innovation professionals at Connecticut colleges and corporate facilities. The focus is on emerging trends and current research being carried out at these Connecticut institutions, while introducing students to 21st Century Connecticut career opportunities.
